Soulful Headshots: Christina

Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.” - Brené Brown

Sitting for headshots or any type of portraits is an exercise in Courage. Courage in showing ourselves to the world especially in an authentic way. It is sharing a bit of ourselves.

Last month I went to New York and met with Christina, a storyteller who helps innovators translate their believes and passions into powerful brand stories. I was humbled that she trusted me to take her headshots and I was inspired by her presence and confidence in herself. Please check her out at The New Quo.

Here are few of the photos we captured during our short time together at the Brooklyn Museum of Art.

Runaway Series - Morgan

This is the 2nd in my "Runaway Series" [you can see photos from the first HERE] which mixes my love for thrifted wedding dresses and my belief that sometimes you have to leave what doesn't serve you to find yourself - Runaway to yourself.

The term running away is seen as negative, but like most things, it can also be positive. You have to leave in order to arrive. Changing paths, letting go of  circumstances or saying goodbye to someone. And doing it swiftly & without apology. It can be a symbol of strength. But done kindly; Always kindly

Boudoir Styled Shoot

I participated in a styled Boudoir shoot a few weeks ago which was my first attempt at boudoir. I am very much a close up portrait photographer but loved capturing boudoir portraits but in my usual style.

I do love how such shoots allow for self love; embracing body ("imperfections" and all), sensuality and fun.  I actually want to do one myself soon.

The team on the styled shoot were:

Host:Jessica
Models: DanaeMeghanKaylnBrittany.

Stylist: Susan
HMUA: EmilySarah |  Florals: Farm Flowers

Calm Confidence: Cameron

"Every moment presents us with a choice:
Do this or that?
React this way or that way?
Believe this or that?
You aren’t a victim of life. The choice is yours: what do YOU want your life to look like?"

-Cameron Simcik

Cameron Simcik is a confident a life coach with a calm presence and joy in her laugh. Our shoot was full of laughter and deep conversation, my ideal.

"I think the small moments of joy are where the really beautiful, juicy parts of life live.

Listening to a loved one laughing
Having coffee with a friend
People watching on a park bench
Having a solo dance party in your kitchen

Joy creates ease,  it creates flow, it creates perspective —

that life doesn’t always have to be so serious".

Cameron helps women tap into, trust and take action on their powerful inner wisdom. Focusing on infusing life with joy, flow and laughter.
