I came across this writing of Morgan Harper Nichols [if you don’t follow her on Instagram or receive her daily newsletter, go signup] and it hit deep.
“May you never look at a photograph of yourself and say “look how beautiful I used to be”. ..
The woman in the photograph holds so more than a frame in time could ever capture.
And even though you know her so well, and you have occupied that very space, there is still an endless depth to her, going far beyond what is seen.
And with age, you are only being refined, growing more and more beautiful with time….
Your beauty goes beyond what any photography can hold, and every year, you still shine, radiant, like gold.”
Just last week I was looking at old photos of myself, from 20 years ago, a freer, carefree, coming of age time and yearning for what was.
We may look different year after year but we are still shining, still radiant, more beautiful. Don’t forget that.
