Lantern Fest: York

In late July I had the opportunity to photograph another LanternFest, this time in York, PA. I took Ari along for the exhilarating experience.

My 3 Suggestions for Attending a LanternFest:

❉ Explore getting cheaper tickets on Groupon or Living Social.

❉  The lantern lightening takes places after sunset but I suggest getting there early, after the gates open to soak up the vibes, take advantage of the kids activities (face painting, costumed characters & bouncy houses) and make amores.

❉  Hang out after all the lanterns are in the air until the traffic out of the event location eases up.

City Glam: Cacie

Chasing Sunsets with Cacie last month at new Rail Park. A great location for photos, to relax and take in the city.

Boudoir Styled Shoot

I participated in a styled Boudoir shoot a few weeks ago which was my first attempt at boudoir. I am very much a close up portrait photographer but loved capturing boudoir portraits but in my usual style.

I do love how such shoots allow for self love; embracing body ("imperfections" and all), sensuality and fun.  I actually want to do one myself soon.

The team on the styled shoot were:

Host:Jessica
Models: DanaeMeghanKaylnBrittany.

Stylist: Susan
HMUA: EmilySarah |  Florals: Farm Flowers

Calm Confidence: Cameron

"Every moment presents us with a choice:
Do this or that?
React this way or that way?
Believe this or that?
You aren’t a victim of life. The choice is yours: what do YOU want your life to look like?"

-Cameron Simcik

Cameron Simcik is a confident a life coach with a calm presence and joy in her laugh. Our shoot was full of laughter and deep conversation, my ideal.

"I think the small moments of joy are where the really beautiful, juicy parts of life live.

Listening to a loved one laughing
Having coffee with a friend
People watching on a park bench
Having a solo dance party in your kitchen

Joy creates ease,  it creates flow, it creates perspective —

that life doesn’t always have to be so serious".

Cameron helps women tap into, trust and take action on their powerful inner wisdom. Focusing on infusing life with joy, flow and laughter.

Runaway Series

"Where is the groom?" inquired train conductors, passengers and people on the street 2 Sundays ago when Lia and I set out to capture her in an old thrifted wedding dress at 30th Street Station.

We sought to capture this concept of the lonely bride within the early morning shadows of the station's platforms. I think we achieved this along with some light and breezy photos at City Hall.

I am starting a new runaway series combining my love for shopping for thrift wedding dress with creative photography. If you want to be a part of the series, send me an email; no modeling experience necessary.

Philadelphia Lantern Festival

I had the wonderful opportunity to shoot portraits at the philadelphia Lantern Festival last week. It was a magical experience, worth experiencing at least once in a lifetime. Words can't describe the awe and reverence of the event.

My friend Abena, came along to be my "model" and while shooting at dark without a flash in order to retain the ambient light was a challenge, I am proud of the photos.

Soho Glam Session

Back in April on a trip to NYC, I had the wonderful treat of photographing my sister's step daughter. She is a talented singer and she made my job so effortless. It's my aim to do more of these types of sessions, glam with moody.
