I have so many photos of my daughter but none in the past year with me in the frame besides grainy iPhone selfies. As mothers we sometimes fail to get into the frame with our children; self conscious of everything. But our kids do not care about how we look and will treasure family photos for decades after we are gone.

When you go on a trip, have you ever considered having professional photos taken to commemorate the trip or the special occasion that the trip represents? It is a great way to put the phone and your camera away and enjoy the moment.

Growing up, my sister and I fought like a cat and dog! No joke, it was a constant quiet power struggle in our house, her seeking to be the “mother” of me and me (the younger one), resisting hard.

My photography is inspired by the duality of light and shadows within us. The joy tinged with tears; the exhilaration after the fight.
Moody.
I've tipped my toes into artificial light to be able to tell these stories better. I do love natural light but I don't want to be a slave to the weather or time of day. I took a few images of Abena in a studio last week using strobes. I am falling in love with being able to mold light.
Taking volunteers to model while I test lighting set ups. 😉

Runaway Series
"Where is the groom?" inquired train conductors, passengers and people on the street 2 Sundays ago when Lia and I set out to capture her in an old thrifted wedding dress at 30th Street Station.
We sought to capture this concept of the lonely bride within the early morning shadows of the station's platforms. I think we achieved this along with some light and breezy photos at City Hall.
I am starting a new runaway series combining my love for shopping for thrift wedding dress with creative photography. If you want to be a part of the series, send me an email; no modeling experience necessary.
Philadelphia Lantern Festival
I had the wonderful opportunity to shoot portraits at the philadelphia Lantern Festival last week. It was a magical experience, worth experiencing at least once in a lifetime. Words can't describe the awe and reverence of the event.
My friend Abena, came along to be my "model" and while shooting at dark without a flash in order to retain the ambient light was a challenge, I am proud of the photos.
